You can now virtually visit Pickering Museum

Pickering Museum Village is generating plenty new virtual experiences to keep visitors engaged from the comfort of their own homes.

The Virtual Museum features both museum exhibits highlighting Pickering’s history and artifacts from the collection. Visitors can access part of the museum’s collection online which is great for home-based research or school projects, said a city announcement.

Parents, teachers and students can sample a museum education program featuring simple machines from the Pickering Museum Village, and the Rebellion of 1837.  The virtual museum provides videos and easy to use resources that bring the museum’s education programs into student’s homes, it said.

The virtual museum will also include videos from the museum’s costumer, hands-on crafts for families and behind the scenes features from the museum.

The museum will continue to add new experiences to the Virtual Museum as social distancing measures continue.
