14-year old boy on bicycle hit by pickup truck on crosswalk

A 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Whitby, according to Durham Police.

The 40-year-old female driver of the pickup truck remained on scene, police said.

On Wednesday, August 5 at about 8:55 pm, members of Central West Division responded to a collision in the area of Garden Street and Manning Road. A 14-year-old male was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a pickup truck.

It was reported that the male was riding southbound within the crosswalk when he was struck by a southbound pickup truck making a right turn. He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to assist with this investigation. Police are still investigating the circumstances of the collision.
