16-year olds try to set shop on fire

Two youth are facing charges following an attempt arson at a local business in Oshawa.

On Thursday, February 19, around 4:10 am, members of Central East Division responded to a report of an armed person at a local business in the area of Simcoe Street South and Bruce Street in Oshawa.

Police learned that two male suspects arrived at the location in a black Honda and approached the storefront. One suspect used a hammer to break the front door glass, while the second suspect attempted to ignite an incendiary device.

A short time later, officers located and arrested both suspects in the area of King Street East and Ritson Road, Oshawa.

The suspects are two 16 year old boys. One from Scugog and the other from Toronto. At the time of their arrest, both suspects were wanted on outstanding warrants by several police services.
