18-year-olds facing charges for defacing property

Two 18-year-old males are facing charges after officers from the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) East Division observed them defacing public property in Newcastle.

The incident took place on Thursday at Mill Street and Port of Newcastle Drive at 8:10 pm.

A resident called in to report two youth were spray painting a bridge. When police arrived, one of them was arrested while the other fled on foot, but later turned himself in.

Police said the suspects are believed to responsible for defacing many locations in Durham Region.

The two, from Oshawa and Hillsdale are both charged with Mischief over $5,00 x2.
