50+ residents of Ajax areas can get vaccine

The Ontario government is moving into Phase Two of its COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan, with a focus on reaching individuals in “hot spot” communities where COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted certain neighbourhoods. In addition, this phase will prioritize individuals with the highest-risk health conditions in April 2021. With a steady supply of the COVID-19 vaccine expected from the federal government, over nine million Ontarians will be offered their first vaccination between April and end of June 2021.

People who are 50 and above living in the following postal codes in the Ajax area are eligible and included in phase two of vaccine rollout:

♦L1T
♦L1Z

Meanwhile, Durham Health yesterday posted 149 new Covid-19 cases for April 4, taking the region’s tally to 15,117 since the count began on February 29 2020.

Variants cases stood at 2,281. Durham’s overall death toll stands at 308 with 217 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 13,509, up by 143. There are 1,300 active covid cases.

Fifty-six cases are hospitalized with 17 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 1,244 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 4,440 in Ajax.

There were:

  • 37 cases in Pickering
  • 48 in Ajax
  • 26 in Whitby
  • 19 in Oshawa
  • 16 in Clarington
  • 3 in Uxbridge
  • 1 in Brock

Death Toll: Total – 308              LTC – 217

Of the 99 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTC
Of the 52 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Forty-eight deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 53 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
Sixteen deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
Sixteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
No deaths have been reported in Brock
