Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has released the number of emergency (911) calls it received in 2019 – and it is a staggering 212,385.
“The numbers are in! Durham Region 9-1-1 received 212,385 calls last year,” said the DRPS.
On average, that works out to a whopping 581 calls a day!
And, DRPS is able to handle them.
However, it cautioned: “Please remember if you ‘pocket dial’ 9-1-1 by accident please stay on the line until you have confirmed that it was an accidental call and not an emergency.”
