Windsor: Eighty bricks containing 96.7 kg of suspected cocaine was seized at the Ambassador Bridge by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
On July 30, a tractor trailer arrived at the Ambassador Bridge Commercial Operations in Windsor, Ontario and was referred for a secondary examination, said a joint CBSA and RCMP statement.
CBSA officers, assisted by a detector dog team, discovered 80 bricks of suspected cocaine inside the commercial load. The driver was arrested and the suspected cocaine was seized.
The CBSA transferred custody of the driver, along with the evidence, to the RCMP who charged Gurinder Singh, 27 years of age, of Lasalle, Quebec with:
· Importation, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA); and,
· Possession for the purposes of trafficking contrary to the CDSA.
Singh’s bail hearing, at the Windsor Superior Court, is pending.
The investigation continues.

“Protecting Canadians and keeping drugs out of our communities is a key priority for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Working together with partners like the Canada Border Services Agency ensures that we meet this goal,” said Inspector Kevin Keane, Officer in Charge of RCMP Windsor Detachment.
The CBSA uses various detection tools to assist with examinations such as ion mobility spectrometry, large scale imaging x-rays and detector dogs to name but a few. These tools, in combination with the officer’s knowledge, experience and training, enable successful enforcement actions.
