Another speeding motorist pleads being late for work

DRPS Traffic Services has received some crazy excuses for speeding, but one that is a recurring theme is being late for work.

Sadly, I’ve met another motorist late for work on Winchester Road in the Town of Whitby, said a tweet from an officer.

It said appropriate charges were laid.

As it had rained yesterday, the tweet also alerted motorists to drive safe and to the environmental conditions.

On Wednesday, officers caught another speeding driver in Whitby who was ‘late for work’. They suggested the driver will later be walking.

The motorist was clocked doing 104kmh in a posted 60-school zone!

Stunt driving has serious consequences. Please slow down, police said.

Truck Woes: Officers also reported that on Lake Ridge Road in Pickering, this tractor trailer [below] was locked in at 111kmh in a posted 80-zone.

An inspection revealed other issues. Four charges laid.

Police asked viewers to note the two strategic dirt spots in the image.

Truck Stop: On Bayly and Kitney in Ajax – in a marked no stopping zone along Bayly – a truck decided to stop in the rain and traffic for a delivery.

A cyclist and a car behind it were then stuck and at risk of pulling into traffic, police said.

Your convenience doesn’t trump other peoples safety, it pointed out.

Meanwhile, DRPS North Division Traffic conducted radar along Regional Road 13, in Leaskdale.

Please obey the speed limit, they advised.

Rain or shine, members of the Durham Regional Police – Central East Division Downtown Foot Patrol initiative were out yesterday trying to stay dry while conducting property, open field, park, and trail checks [below].
