Radar warning device, fake plate, no insurance…

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) congratulated officers of its Central East Division on Friday for quickly locating and stopping an uninsured motor vehicle.

The vehicle was further found to contain a speed measuring warning device, it said.

Speed measuring warning devices are not allowed in Ontario under the Highway Traffic Act, DRPS pointed out.

It said on April 22, members of DRPS Central East Division responded to a call for service at Tauton Road and Harmony Road in Oshawa.

Officers arrived and quickly located the suspect vehicle. On inspection, it was found the vehicle had unauthorized plates, no insurance and contained a speed measuring warning device.

A 52-year old male from Toronto was charged, and the vehicle removed from the roadway, police said.
