Restrictions start in Oshawa, Clarington, Scugog, Uxbridge

The Regional Municipality of Durham is notifying residents of road closures and lane restrictions starting from today (May 1) across Durham.

Oshawa

There will be road closures on Veterans Road and Holland Street in the City of Oshawa, be in stages from May 1 until September. Lane restrictions will also occur throughout the construction period. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule, the municipality said.

Where: Veterans Road from Wilson Road South to Farewell Street and Holland Street, from Bloor Street East to Veterans Road.

The closures are required for the replacement of a watermain and sanitary sewer. A temporary water system will also be installed.

The municipality said during this work, residents will experience intermittent water supply interruptions. Impacted properties will be notified at least 24 hours in advance of any required service interruptions to give the residents time to prepare.

Townline Road South: The Regional Municipality announced upcoming lane restrictions on Townline Road South (Regional Road 55) in the City of Oshawa, from May 1 to 19.

These will be on Townline Road South, from Kingsway Gate to Barron Court, and are to help safely construct a concrete curb and sidewalk in support of new development.

Clarington

There will be road closures on Regional Road 3 in the Municipality of Clarington from May 1 until early June. The entire construction project is anticipated to be completed by November.

These will take place on Regional Road 3, from Bowmanville Avenue to 300 metres west.

The closure is required for the construction of a roundabout at the Bowmanville Avenue and Regional Road 3/Concession Road 8 intersection in Clarington. The existing temporary traffic signals will be removed on May 1 and the intersection will operate as an all-way stop.

Scugog

There will be lane restrictions on Regional Road 57 in the Township of Scugog from May 1 to June 2.

Lane restrictions will be in place daily on Regional Road 57, from 160 metres west of Brenda’s Lane to 240 metres north of Scugog Point Road, and from 550 metres west of Cedardale Road to 480 metres east of Viewlake Road.

The lane restrictions will be in place for the installation of paved shoulders.

Uxbridge

The Regional Municipality of Durham announced lane restrictions on Main Street/Concession Road 7 in the Township of Uxbridge from May 1 to July 28.

Lane restrictions will be in place daily on Main Street, Concession Road 7 (Regional Road 1), from north of Brock Street (Regional Highway 47) to south of Davis Drive.

The lane restrictions will be in place for road resurfacing.

The municipality said on-street parking will be temporarily unavailable during construction.

The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
