6 arrests and 84 tickets in just three days in north Durham

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) seems to be bringing some order to the roads of north Durham under an ongoing traffic blitz.

In just three days of the year-long project ‘Northern Focus’ to reduce collisions at major intersections in Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge, DRPS North Division stalwarts have arrested six drivers, issued 84 tickets, 15 cautions, and 4 criminal charges, plus numerous driving suspensions and impounds.

Late for Golf: One of the offenders was the driver of the above vehicle, who was speeding as they were late for a golf game.

“North Division Traffic charged driver with stunt driving – marked departure from the speed limit and Careless driving in Beaverton,” said a police alert.

It said the driver said they were late for a golf weekend and received a 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impound.

No Seatbelt while Suspended: Yesterday, North Division Officers conducting a two-day seatbelt and cellphone initiative.

A driver charged for not wearing a seatbelt and driving while licence suspended x3. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 90 days in Beaverton.
