Supporting small and family-owned businesses in downtown Oshawa and Bowmanville is easy to do this holiday season.
The City of Oshawa is offering free on-street parking downtown starting at noon daily from Monday, December 8 up to and including Thursday, January 1.
Due to statutory holidays, parking will be free all day on December 25, 26 and January 1.
In Oshawa fees for on-street parking still apply between 8 am and noon, Monday through Friday. On-street parking will remain free after 6 pm during the week and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.
Paid parking will still be required for off-street municipal parking lots and parkades in Oshawa, said a city statement.
On-street parking is not permitted on Oshawa streets between the hours of 2 am and 6 am, from December 1 to April 1. In addition to the 2 am to 6 am winter seasonal parking regulations, vehicles parked on Oshawa streets at any time while salting/snow clearing is underway may be ticketed and/or towed.
Bowmanville Offer
In Bowmanville, the parking meters have been turned off for December, and the paid parking lots offer free courtesy parking, allowing shoppers easy access to local stores and restaurants.
The exception is the King Street lot, which continues to have a two-hour maximum.
No parking is allowed on the street during a snow event at any time of day or night, even with a parking permit. Clarington’s by-law regarding vehicle operation is still in effect.
- Do not park on the road between the hours of 3 and 5 am, or for a period of longer than three hours.
- Do not push, plow or blow snow onto the road
- During late winter and early spring, follow weight restriction guidelines. Vehicle loads are restricted to five (5) tonnes per axle
