Impaired stop leads to arrest for having loaded handgun

A firearm was located in a vehicle after the driver was arrested for impaired operation in Whitby.

On Wednesday, December 17, at around 12:10 am, a member of the Festive Ride team initiated a traffic stop in the area of Dundas Street and Brock Street.

Officers took the driver into custody after observing signs of alcohol impairment. A subsequent search of the vehicle located a loaded handgun beside the driver’s seat.

The male aged 18 from Clarington was charged and for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
