Impaired jumps curb, hits four other vehicles + Thickson

DRPS Traffic Services on Thursday reported a driver who is said to have jumped a curb and struck four other vehicles.

One of the vehicles struck was occupied, the police said adding that the incident happened the previous Saturday.

The driver fled on foot. Witness statements, video and Air 1, helped to capture him a short distance away. Driver charged with Impaired Operation as well as 21 other charges, police said.

Thickson Lane Restrictions

Durham Region is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions on Thickson Road North (Regional Road 26) in the Village of Brooklin, in the Town of Whitby to safely install a watermain in support of new development.

The lane restriction is active from December 22 to February 5. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.

Lane restrictions will be in place on Thickson Road North, from Carnwith Drive East to Baldwin Street North, in Brooklin.

The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
