Two suspects face numerous charges after a phone fraud investigation resulted in the seizure of cellphones, ammunition, currency, jewelry and a handgun, Durham Police said.
On February 5, members of the Financial Crimes Unit were contacted by a complainant about a suspect who was fraudulently obtaining cell phones. An investigation commenced and it led to the execution of a search warrant at an address on Hunking Drive in Oshawa, said a police media release.
Police seized several fraudulently obtained cellphones, over $100,000 in Canadian currency, over $200,000 in property including jewelry, designer clothing, ammunition and a handgun, it added.
Huddy Conserve, age 31 and Amy Dunbar, age 23, both of Hunking Drive in Oshawa face a combined 15 charges including: .Careless Storage; Fraud Exceeding $5,000; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Prohibited Device and Possession of Prohibited Ammunition. They were held for a bail hearing.
