Charged for misleading in fatal hit-and-run

A 23-year-old male has been charged after he misled police during the investigation of a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run incident in Pickering.

On September 21, at approximately 12:34 am, members of West Division in Pickering were called to a fail to remain collision involving a fatality at the intersection of Taunton Road and Altona Road, said a police media release.

At this time an acquaintance of the victim arrived on scene at the intersection and found the victim on the ground with obvious signs of trauma. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sivabartheeban Sivanathapillai, age 23, of Scarborough, is charged with Obstruct Police. He was released on an Undertaking
