Aggressive, careless, stunt driving will not be tolerated: police

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday declared that aggressive, careless and stunt driving will not be tolerated on Durham roads.

This came after a speeding car was stopped in Whitby (main image above), some 60kmh above the posted limit.

“Bravo traffic team making a stop on Winchester Road in Town of Whitby,” said an officer.

“I would like to point out that section of highway is a posted 80kmh zone and not a 140kmh zone”.

In another catch in Pickering, a driver was stopped on Whites Road.

“This car caught up to me at 120kmh in a posted 70kmhr zone. The car was stopped for stunt driving,” said a police tweet (image below).

Appropriate charges were laid, with the motorist receiving a 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment.

Meanwhile, Durham Regional Police Service – Central East Division reminded drivers to pay close attention when driving, following last evening’s rain.

“This rain, hail, thunder and lightning make for difficult driving conditions. Flashing lights, or traffic lights that are completely out, are to be treated as an all way stop,” it said.
