Air conditioner thief let go with ‘Promise to Appear’

Oshawa: Durham Police have arrested a male suspect after he broke into a construction site and stole an air-conditioning unit.

On Monday, August 12 at 1:40 am, members of Central East Division were called to a construction site on Athol Street in Oshawa for a break and enter in progress. Quick responding officers were advised by the alarm monitoring company that the suspect fled the premise on foot with a stolen air-conditioning unit.

Officers arrived to find the suspect walking with the stolen property. The suspect saw police, dropped the property and fled before being arrested.

The air conditioning unit was returned to the property owner.

Max Santos, age 28 of Simcoe Street South in Oshawa, is charged with Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000.

He was released on a Promise to Appear.
