Ajax businesses’ four steps for reopening asap

Ajax has recommended four steps for economic recovery in Durham based on recommendations of its business community.

In a letter to the region, Ajax Mayor Shaun Collier, has outlined the following four initiatives:

  1. Expand the eligibility for hotspot vaccinations to all essential employees that work in hotspots like Ajax, regardless of their residency, to limit the risks of community exposure and keep businesses operating
  2. Provide further information to employers that want to host pop-up vaccination clinics for their employees, including details on logistics of booking and storage of vaccines, security and other considerations, to assist with the mass immunization campaign
  3. Extend the hours of operation for Region-led vaccination clinics to accommodate shift and other work schedules for essential employees
  4. Advocate for the review and streamlining of the onerous standards and red tape required for administering rapid antigen tests to make it easier for businesses to conduct these for their employees

Multiple large employers and the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade met with the mayor and have come up with the initiatives.

Ajax is willing to discuss the initiatives with regional authorities.
