Toronto: Three young offenders have been arrested for armed robberies across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), according to Toronto Poice service (TPS).
“The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of three youths arrested for a series of carjacking robberies and an armed retail robbery that occurred in June 2019,” said a TPS media release.
It is alleged that between June 7 and June 15, 2019, a group of men committed four carjacking robberies in the Greater Toronto Area. In each carjacking, two of the men would approach the victim, and would forcefully take the vehicle’s keys and drive the victim’s vehicle away, the police said.
In one of the incidents, a man used a ‘Taser’-style weapon on the victim.
It is further alleged that on Monday, June 17, three men committed an armed retail robbery in the Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street area. The men entered the store wearing masks and carrying handguns which they pointed at the victim. The men took cash and cellular phones before fleeing the scene in one of the vehicles they had stolen in a previous carjacking.
Through the investigation the men were identified and arrested. Officers recovered two imitation firearms.
TPS did not inform where in GTA were the crimes committed.
On Thursday, January 2, a 17-year-old boy, of Brampton, was arrested. He is charged with:
1. five counts of Robbery
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Use Imitation Firearm during Commission of Indictable Offence
4. Possession of Weapon
5. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
6. two counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance
7. eleven counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, January 3, 2020, at 10 a.m.
Last year, a 15-year-old boy, of Brampton was arrested. He is charged with:
1. Robbery
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Use Imitation Firearm during Commission of Indictable Offence
4. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
5. Fail to Comply YCJA
Another 15-year-old boy, of Brampton was arrested. He is charged with:
1. Robbery
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Use Imitation Firearm during Commission of Indictable Offence
4. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
