Arrest warrant for Home Depot trailer thief

Durham Police said that after numerous attempts to locate him have failed, an arrest warrant has now been issued for a 26-year-old man in connection with the thefts of heavy equipment and trailers.

On November 14 a warrant was issued for Avin Bose, age 26 of No Fixed Address for several thefts of construction equipment in Oshawa, Ajax, Markham and Bradford from October 5 to 7, 2019.

The suspect visited Home Depot stores in these locations and using fraudulent identification and documents, rented Skid Steers and a trailer from all of the locations and never returned them. On October 9, a rental vehicle used by the suspect, a Ford F-150 was located on Highway 48, north of Bethesda, fully engulfed in flames. The total loss of the vehicle, trailers and Skid Steers are valued at just over $200,000.

Bose is known to have lived in the Hamilton area, but his whereabouts are unknown at this time.

Investigators do not believe there is a threat to community safety, but want Bose to contact a lawyer and turn himself in. It is an offence for any friend or acquaintance to aid and abet him while he is wanted by police.

Bose is wanted for six criminal charges, including: Arson; Personation with Intent; Fraud Under $5,000; Use Credit Card and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.

Anyone with new information about his location is asked to contact Det. Price of the Financial Crimes Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5353.
