Bullet narrowly misses Oshawa resident in bed

Just hours after Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter appealed to DRPS to step up efforts to control crime, shots rang out in a residential area of the city.

Police are now investigating shots being fired at an Oshawa home early yesterday morning.

On September 15 at about 1:20 am, members of East Division were called to a residence in the area of Ritson Road North and Coldstream Drive in Oshawa. Officers responded to the area and were able to confirm that multiple shots were fired after finding damage to a home nearby, said a police statement.

One of the bullets narrowly missed an occupant of the home with the bullet travelling through the bed’s headboard and lodging in the wall. There was also damage to a second home in that vicinity, police said.

There have been no reported injuries to the occupants of the home.

Police searched the area with negative results.

There are no suspect descriptors at this time, but a dark small vehicle which was seen in the area during the time of the incident, police said.
