Caught speeding at 101 kmh in 50-school zone

Blatant disregard for the law – especially when it concerned safety of children – cost a driver dearly, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

West Division officers caught a driver speeding away at 101 kmh in a 50 kmh school zone on Harwood Avenue in Ajax.

The driver was pulled over, the car was impounded for 14 days, and the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, police said.

It said the offence could carry a fine of up to a $10,000 and/or six months in jail.

“Slow down,” said the DRPS.
