New housing around proposed Bowmanville GO train station site

Meet on major development around Courtice GO station

Clarington is creating a plan to support a transit-oriented community (TOC) surrounding Courtice’s future GO Station.

The development of the new station will guide growth in Courtice as it transforms into a significant employment, mixed-use, and transportation hub, said a Clarington statement.

The Municipality of Clarington initiated the Courtice TOC and GO Station Area Secondary Plan in 2019 for the lands located in the south end of Courtice (north of Highway 401). These lands also include the future Courtice GO Station and the surrounding Major Transit Station Area.

The absence of sanitary sewers in south Courtice had prevented development from occurring. The construction of a new trunk sewer along Trulls Road to Bloor Street is now underway. The provision of municipal services and the creation of the GO train station are expected to be the primary catalysts that will spark the growth of this underdeveloped area, said the statement.

It said a meeting has been called for Tuesday, March 22, at 7 pm, to hear input from residents and stakeholders. Residents can register for the meeting to hear preliminary development options and provide input.
