Impaired robber charged with 17 LCBO thefts

Durham Police investigators have arrested an impaired driver after he failed to stop for police in Oshawa.

On Tuesday, March 8 at about 10:30 pm, members of Central East Division attempted to stop a suspected impaired driver who was operating a GMC pickup truck in the area of Naughton Avenue and Drew Street. The driver failed to stop for police and fled. The suspect vehicle was later located by officers on Simcoe Street and the driver was arrested, said a police media release.

Further investigation by East Division Criminal Investigations Bureau resulted in impaired driving charges, 17 charges for LCBO thefts that occurred in the Durham Region, and two convenience store robberies from February 19 this year in Oshawa.

The suspect from Oshawa, is charged with; Impaired Operation of a Conveyance; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Flight from Police Officer; Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Breath Demand; Theft Under $5,000 x 17; Robbery x2 and Disguise with Intent.
