New stops at seven Clarington crossroads are now operational

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday announced that the new all-way stop signs at seven intersections in Clarington are now operational.

“Be sure to come to a complete stop and be mindful in our community safety zones,” said an advisory from DRPS East Division.

The signs had been announced about two weeks ago by both DRPS and the Municipality of Clarington.

“The Municipality of Clarington is implementing new all-way stops at several intersections between mid-April and June,” says a municipal statement.

Clarington monitors traffic flow throughout the municipality and makes changes to help ensure the safety of drivers, pedestrians and cyclists and to adapt to the changing traffic patterns, behaviours and conditions.

The following intersections have transitioned to all-way stops:

  • Aspen Springs Drive at West Side Drive in Bowmanville
  • Bons Avenue at Gimblett Drive and Honeyman Drive in Bowmanville
  • Mearns Avenue at Longworth Avenue in Bowmanville
  • Rhonda Boulevard at Lawrence Gate in Bowmanville
  • Sandringham Drive at Strathallan Drive in Courtice
  • Sandringham Drive at Glenabbey Drive in Courtice
  • Trulls Road at George Reynolds Drive in Courtice
