Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday informed that the Municipality of Clarington is getting seven new stop signs at various intersections.
“Have you noticed the new signs around Clarington?” asked an alert from DRPS East Division.
The population of Clarington is growing rapidly, especially in Courtice and Bowmanvile, mostly around the proposed GO train stations, and Highway 2 areas. Consequently, traffic is increasing.
DRPS said seven new intersections will soon be operational with stop signs over the coming weeks.
“Signs are being installed and are covered, but they will soon be in effect,” it said.
Zipping by cops at 83kmh
Meanwhile, DRPS North Division traffic conducted traffic enforcement at a 40kmh stretch in Sonya, Brock, yesterday morning.
Many speeding tickets were issued, said the police.
One driver was charged with stunt – excessively speeding while passing 83 kmh. The motorist (image below) also got a 30-day driving licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impound.
