Police recruit held for sex assault and filming of youth

Toronto Police Service yesterday announced it had arrested a man in a sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that between March 10 and March 31, the accused was using online applications, including OME TV, Snapchat along with other social media platforms to communicate with young persons.

The accused misrepresented himself as a police officer to gain the trust of his victims, said police adding that he met with his victims in person and took them to a bar knowing they were not of legal drinking age. He purchased alcoholic beverages for the victims to consume and then sexually assaulted them. He also filmed a victim without their knowledge.

Police said the accused was a recruit at the Ontario Police College at the time of his arrest.

Members of the Toronto Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Section executed search warrants in relation to the investigation. As a result of the search warrants, several items including electronic devices were seized for further examination.

On Friday, April 5, the suspect, 31, of Toronto, was arrested and charged. Name, photo and further details available at www.tps.ca.

Toronto Police are concerned there are more victims, and are requesting the assistance of the public to notify the Internet Child Exploitation Section of the Toronto Police Service with any information.
