Cigarettes, cash robber charged and held for hearing

The Robbery Unit of Durham Police, on Friday, May 5, made an arrest in the investigation of a commercial robbery that occurred in Whitby.

In February, 2023, a male suspect entered a convenience store in the area of Dunlop Street and Brock Street South and made a demand for cigarettes and cash while brandishing a knife. The suspect fled on foot with a quantity of items, said police.

There were no physical injuries reported.

The 47-year old of no fixed address, was charged and held for a bail hearing.
