Toddler in passenger seat gets Durham driver $240 fine

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers from the Central East Division responded to public calls regading an unsafe toddler in the passenger seat of a car.

They caught up and stopped the vehicle.

On inspection, it was found that the driver had their 4-year old in the passenger seat with only the lap belt portion across the child.

The driver was fined.

“The term seatbelts save lives isn’t new, however, they have to be used correctly,” said the police. “Thanks to the public who pointed this out to CE Division.”
