Cold front with strong winds to sweep Durham today

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement in effect for Durham Region, projecting strong winds on Wednesday (today).

It said a cold front will sweep through southern Ontario Wednesday afternoon and evening bringing strong southwest winds, which could gust between 70 and 80 kmh by Wednesday afternoon into the evening.

They may lead to power outages may occur. High winds may also toss loose objects. Residents are requested to make sure their waste is secure before putting it out for collection.

Environment Canada said high winds may also cause tree branches to break. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds,” it added.
