Collier assures increased police presence after shots

Ajax Mayor Shaun Collier assured residents of enhanced police presence after a second case of shots being fired in a residential street in the town.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) West Division has opened an investigation after multiple shots were fired at an unoccupied vehicle parked in the driveway of a south Ajax home yesterday. No injuries were reported.

“DRPS will be conducting additional patrols in this area to increase police presence and enhance community safety,” said Mayor Collier in a public statement (see below).

On Tuesday, November 24, at about 12:09 am, West Division officers were dispatched to a residence on Bolland Crescent in south Ajax regarding multiple gunshots being heard. Officers arrived and discovered that an unoccupied white Ford Fusion, parked in the driveway of a residence, had been struck with multiple bullets. Multiple shell casings were located at the scene. The people inside the residence were not injured, police said.

A review of security footage from the area showed the gunshots came from inside a dark-coloured SUV-style vehicle, which was driving westbound on Bolland at approximately 12:04 am.

Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact A/Det. Mackinnon of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529.
