Two big ideas are beginning to develop in south Courtice — a Waterfront Park and an Energy Park Employment Cluster.
The Waterfront Park is planned to come up next to Darlington Provincial Park and the Energy Park Employment Cluster next to Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.
Clarington Municipality has launched a survey asking residents what they would like to see on Courtice’s waterfront.
For the Waterfront Park the choices include beach access, bike trails, natural parkland, picnic areas, pier, skate park and trails.
Clarington is also asking what types of businesses and amenities should be located near the Waterfront Park. Choices include pubs, restaurants, shopping, ice rink, an amphitheater and a splash pad.
Apparently, housing is also planned and residents have been asked to choose between low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise.
For the Energy Business Park, choices for services that would support businesses in the park, include convenience store, gas station, convention centre, hotel, day care and restaurant.
