Durham Health last night reopened vaccination bookings over the week and several residents reported being able to book their vaccinations over the coming days.
Yesterday, it also posted 171 new Covid-19 cases for April 12, taking the region’s tally to 16,744 since the count began on February 29 2020.
Two people have died, it said with one in Pickering, and the other in Whitby.
Durham’s overall death toll stands at 311, with 217 of them occurring in LTCs.
Variants cases stood at 3,765. Recoveries stand at 14,367. There are 2,066 active covid cases.
Seventy-one cases are hospitalized with 26 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 1,995 people in home isolation.
Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far in Ajax.
There were:
- 47 cases in Pickering
- 39 in Ajax
- 34 in Whitby
- 32 in Oshawa
- 33 in Clarington
- 1 in Uxbridge
- 4 in Scugog
- none in Brock
Of the 100 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTC, one additional death
Of the 52 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Forty-nine deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTC, one additional death
Of the 53 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
Seventeen deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
Sixteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
No deaths have been reported in Brock
