Covid Update: 201 active cases; 3,956 Vaccinations

Durham Health yesterday posted 201 new Covid-19 cases for April 17, taking the region’s tally to 18,025 since the count began on February 29 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 319, with 217 of them occurring in LTCs.

Variants cases stood at 4,653.  Recoveries stand at 15,221. There are 2,485 active covid cases.

Eighty-nine cases are hospitalized with 34 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 2,396 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • 32 cases in Pickering
  • 59 in Ajax
  • 36 in Whitby
  • 50 in Oshawa
  • 14 in Clarington
  • 7 in Uxbridge
  • none in Scugog
  • 3 in Brock

Of the 102 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTC
Of the 53 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 51 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 55 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
Seventeen deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
Sixteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
No deaths have been reported in Brock
