Covid Update: Less than 100 new cases two days running

Durham Health yesterday posted 95 new Covid-19 cases for May 18, taking the region’s tally to 23,637 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 355, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 22,228. There are 1,054 active covid cases. Sixty-two cases are hospitalized with 21 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 992 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • 12 cases in Pickering
  • 12 in Ajax
  • 27 in Whitby
  • 30 in Oshawa
  • 9 in Clarington
  • 5 in Uxbridge
  • none in Scugog
  • none in Brock

Covid Deaths: 355

Of the 113 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 61 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 57 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 58 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
22 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
25 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
2 deaths have been reported in Brock
