Make vaccine available to 15+, say mayors

Small Urban GTHA Mayors are requesting the province to examine and consider changing eligibility for vaccinations and bookings to the age of 15+ across the entire GTHA.

Ontario has expanded the eligibility for the Covid-19 vaccine to 18+ across the province starting this week.

Mayors said expanding eligibility to 15+ will add clarity and simplicity to the process by which residents can get their shots, especially given the increased availability of the vaccine.

With so many essential workers under the age of 18, it is absolutely vital for them to get access to the vaccine, said a joint statement from the mayors.

Especially now that 70% of people over 60 years of age are vaccinated with one dose, it added.
