Pole crash sends 19-year old to Toronto trauma centre

A 19-year-old man from Pickering was sent to hospital as a result of a single motor vehicle collision in Pickering on Monday afternoon.

On May 17 at approximately 2:55 pm, members of West Division were called to a serious motor vehicle collision. A 2007 black 4-door Honda Civic was travelling northbound on Brock Road, north of Concession Road 7, when it left the roadway and struck a hydro pole on the east side of the road.

The 19-year-old male driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was extricated by Pickering Fire Services and transported to a trauma center in Toronto by Durham Paramedic Services. The driver sustained minor injuries.

The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
