Pickering Animal Services recently reunited Jasper with his family.
He had escaped from his yard. Being deaf and blind, his family was very worried about him. A Pickering resident contacted Pickering Animal Services after finding Jasper wandering around. Our staff were then able to locate Jasper’s family and reunite them, said a statement.
His family says, “He is now home safe after an adventure and lots of love from awesome Pickering residents and of course the amazing folks at Pickering Animal Services! I am so thankful. Jasper is snoring away happily!”
Pickering Animal Services launched its Community Pet Support Services Program to help keep residents and their pets together.
Pickering Animal Services recognizes the deep connection people have with their pets, and the benefits that come from these types of bonds. Unfortunately, residents may find themselves in vulnerable situations where they are unable to care for their pet and need temporary support.
Pickering residents who find themselves in these vulnerable situations will be able to access the below services:
Community Pet Pantry: The Community Pet Pantry is available to anyone in the City of Pickering who is currently struggling to provide food and pet supplies for their pet.
Safe Pets Victim Support: Pickering Animal Services has collaborated with SafePet Ontario and Victim Services of Durham Region to help people and their pets when fleeing violent situations. Animal Services will provide temporary housing for animals in need, allowing their owners to safely leave and seek out appropriate supports knowing their pet is safe.
Accessible Veterinary Care: Animal Services continues to offer the Durham Region Spay Neuter Assistance Program to residents in need. Currently, this program is only available to cats, but the goal is to expand and include other animals and services in the future.
Animal Services is responsible for reuniting lost pets with their owners, pet licensing, pet adoptions, enforcing municipal animal related by-laws, and educating the public on the importance of being a responsible pet owner.
Deaf and dumb? Really? Who writes your headlines, because that one is wrong on several levels!
Many apologies
Whoever made this headline needs to be fired lol
Many apologies
It’s deaf and blind not deaf and dumb. That terminology is outdated and offensive.
Many apologies
You may want to rethink the title, this dog is deaf and blind…..
Many apologies
Can you maybe not make your headline that? It’s SUPER gross. “Deaf and dumb” retired in the 1950s. Deaf people and animals are not “DUMB”.
Many apologies
