Fake items worth $500,000 seized in Oshawa raid

Durham Police investigators have arrested a suspect and seized a large amount of counterfeit items after concluding a fraud investigation in Oshawa.

On Thursday, May 6, investigators from the Financial Crimes Unit commenced an investigation into the sale of counterfeit goods through an online marketplace operating in Durham Region.

On Thursday, May 13, members of the Financial Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Robbery Unit, executed a search warrant at an apartment in Oshawa. During the search warrant, investigators seized approximately $500,000 worth of high-end counterfeit goods.

A male from Oshawa, is charged with: Fraud over $5000; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 and Passing Off Description of Wares. He was released on an Undertaking.
