Driver extricated from crashed car, flown to hospital

Two drivers were injured in a motor vehicle collision in Ajax early on Friday morning.

On May 14, at approximately 1:08 am, members of West Division responded to the report of a head-on collision at Taunton Road and Squire Drive.

A black Honda Accord travelling westbound reportedly crossed the center line and narrowly missed two eastbound vehicles before colliding with an eastbound silver Honda Accord.

A 38-year-old man from Scarborough driving the black Honda Accord was extricated by Ajax Fire Services and transported to a trauma center in Toronto by air ambulance. The man was treated for serious injuries and remains in stable but serious condition.

A 22-year-old man from Oshawa driving the silver Honda Accord was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. He was treated and later released from hospital.

The road was closed for several hours while the Collision Investigation Unit collected evidence. They are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
