Durham Health yesterday posted 165 new Covid-19 cases for May 12, taking the region’s tally to 22,943 since the count began on February 29, 2020.
Durham’s overall death toll stands at 349, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.
Recoveries stand at 21,430. There are 1,164 active covid cases, down by 661 the day before.
Seventy-six cases are hospitalized with 29 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 1,088 people in home isolation.
More than 5,500 vaccine doses were administered.
Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.
There were:
- 19 cases in Pickering
- 46 in Ajax
- 36 in Whitby
- 42 in Oshawa
- 17 in Clarington
- 2 in Uxbridge
- 5 in Scugog
- 1 in Brock
Covid Deaths: 349
Of the 111 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 58 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 56 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 58 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
22 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
25 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
2 deaths have been reported in Brock

Where are the 76 active Covid cases that aren’t isolating?
The isolation number should be at least the same or more if you consider people in isolation waiting for test results.
So do we have 76 people with no fixed address roaming the streets while positive?
