Critically hurt ebike driver identified

Investigators have identified the driver of the E-bike as a 34-year old male of Clarington.

Police would like to thank the community for their tips which resulted in the identification of this male. He remains in hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are looking for assistance in identifying a male driver after a collision in Clarington early Friday morning.

On Friday, September 3, at approximately 5:22 am, members of East Division responded to a collision at Courtice Road south of Bloor Street involving an e-bike and motor vehicle. An unidentified male was operating an e-bike southbound on Courtice Road when it was struck from behind by a southbound motor vehicle. The unidentified rider was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he remains in critical condition. His identity is unknown. The other vehicle, a 2018 Hyundai driven by an Oshawa male, ended up in a ditch on the east side of the roadway. The driver received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The unidentified male is described as male white, approximately 5’7″ to 5’8″ tall, 140 pounds and a shaved head. He was riding a blue and silver scooter.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours while members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit conducted an investigation. They have since re-opened.
