Customer frightens robber to flee empty handed

A robbery suspect fled a store empty handed after being frightened by the arrival of a prospective customer.

On Saturday, November 2 at 9:55 am, members of Central East Division responded to a robbery at Jug City convenience store on King Street East in Oshawa, said Durham Police.

The suspect entered the store armed with a metal pipe and made a demand for cash and threatened the clerk.

But as a customer entered the store during the robbery, the suspect fled on foot empty handed.

There were no physical injuries to any employees or customers.

The suspect is described as male, white with grey bearded facial hair. He was wearing a red and white plaid jacket, blue hat, cargo pants, black shoes and wore glasses.
