Dog walking hero saves man who fell into lake

An unnamed hero on Sunday saved a man from the freezing waters of Lake Ontario while also placing his own life at risk.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said on January 26 just after 4 pm, a 43-year-old man fell and slipped into Lake Ontario.

He was seen by a man walking his dog near the Oshawa Pier.

He tied himself off and went into the water and held the man.

Officers from DRPS Central East Division went on the scene and held both parties until Oshawa Fire Service arrived and pulled both men out.

“Courageous actions by the dog walker who risked his life to help the male and great team work by all,” said a DRPS tweet.
