Sexual assault suspect posed as police officer

A female sex trade worker was sexually assaulted on Friday by a suspect who claimed to be a police officer.

On January 24 at around 12:30 am, the suspect was in a motel room on Consumers Drive in Whitby under the guise of being a client. The suspect identified himself verbally as a police officer and engaged in conversation. The victim asked him to leave several times before he sexually assaulted her. The male then left on foot, possibly to a vehicle.

The suspect is described as: male, black, 6′ tall, aged 30-35, medium build, shoulder length dreadlocks.

If unsure about the identity of a police officer, request a name, badge and ask to see some identification.

Anyone with any information that might assist investigators is asked to contact D/Cst. Baldini of the Major Crime – Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5233.
