Driver couldn’t get her car out, left, returned, got arrested

DRPS Traffic Services reported the ease with which some drivers tend to park in tight spots and the apparent difficulty they find to get out – especially when impaired.

A case in point was the driver of the vehicle above, who parked  but could not get out. She left on foot after getting their rental vehicle stuck behind a plaza. Citizens called 911 with a description of the driver.

The driver was arrested by the RIDE team when she returned to retrieve the car. Their breath samples were more than three times the legal limit, said police.

Refuse & Face Same Penalty

DRPS Traffic Services has reminded Durham drivers that if you are asked to provide a breath sample into a roadside screening device, that is a legal demand that you must comply with.

“Failure to do so still results in a seven-day vehicle impound, 90-day licence suspension and a court date – like this person [below] received.

In neither of the two instances above were further details provided.
