Environment Canada yesterday issued a freezing drizzle advisory in effect for Durham Region.
It said periods of freezing drizzle may result in a thin layer of ice accretion or build-up on untreated and elevated surfaces.
And, though, the freezing drizzle was expected to end overnight, surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
“Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas,” said the advisory.
