Drugs, gun and speed land man in police cell

Durham police yesterday said a speeding vehicle on Liverpool Road in Pickering led to the seizure of a loaded handgun and a quantity of cocaine.

On August 17 at about 6 pm, a West Division Officer conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on Liverpool Road at the 401 overpass. During the traffic stop, the driver was also investigated under the Cannabis Act and subsequently found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm Glock with an over capacity magazine, 12.1 grams of cocaine, a digital weigh scale, multiple clear plastic baggies and $635 in cash.

Tristan Armstrong, age 21, of Whitley Castle Crescent in Toronto is facing 10 charges, including: Careless Storage of Prohibited Firearm; Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm; Possession of a Prohibited Device (over capacity magazine); Speeding; and Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine). He was held for a bail hearing.
