Durham covid count at 1,111; deaths at 133

Durham Region Health Department yesterday said 1,111 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the region since February 29.

On Tuesday, the count had stood at 1,086.

Of the total cases, 41 are hospitalized, of which five are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 133, of which 115 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 615.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 421 were in Pickering followed by 285 in Ajax and 188 in Oshawa.

Death Toll:

  • Of the 72 reported deaths in Pickering, 70 were in LTCH
  • Of the 29 reported deaths in Ajax, 26 were in LTCH – no change
  • Two deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Of the 19 reported deaths in Oshawa, 14 were in LTCH – no change
  • Six deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Five deaths in LTCH were reported in Uxbridge
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog or Brock – no change
